black sun and a castle

my 5 year old daughter was particularly delighted with her black sun. I thought this was a awesome picutre for her first acrylic painting ever done. I like the red and pink tree.

cocoons

My 4 year old daughter loves butterflies, so we have learned about them. She informed me that this is butterfly cocoons.

Melting in the Sun

A childs creativity is fantastic. This is a piece from my 5 year old daughter.

Aspen

I wanted to paint some quaking aspen and I had no picture and about 5-7minutes, so this is as good as it got.

doing a quick painting

I actually used a vase with flowers in it for this one. I am really not knowledgeable at all at how to do these types of paintings. I did the flowers and realized I had NO idea how to add the stems or leaves without ruining the picture. So I went with that idea.

It is called "Floating".

I have never drawn or painted flowers or a vase before.

I think I need to learn how to sketch what I am doing first-THEN start to paint.

acrylic on board 2003

This is my next attempt (16 years later).

I got one of those follow the steps book. I later learned that I should have sketched my idea first, not just started painting. Thus the church building that looks like you enter it from a little boat. But not bad from remembering what I did 16 years before that, and only following a couple pictures in a really not so good book.

Art....attempts

I haven't posted a blog in eons (ok months), but I am ready to start again.
These are my attempts at being an artist in my life. they are labeled so you know when my attempts took place. The reason I post these, is because I want to show the difference to myself of 'progress'. But aren't younger children more creative and able?
So, I may regret it, but it gives me a goal.
My 5 year old daughter has also been painting with me because she likes the 'thick paint' instead of the watercolors she is normally given. She informed me that she has 'dreamed of these thick paints'. So, who knows, you may like her art better! I do!
Just in case it doesn't label correctly, this is my 'acrylic' painting I did in 7th grade.
